Karian Forde
Kids Ballet & Kids Modern Teacher, Administrator

Picture
Karian attended Bishop Anstey High School where, from a young age, she sought acting and dancing opportunities both in and out of school. She performed with Brown Cotton Outreach Theatre and attended dance classes with Adrian Daniel, who would eventually lead her to become a company member, teacher and administrator at Elle InfiniTT.

When the University of Trinidad and Tobago launched a Performing Arts degree program in 2010, Karian wasted no time in enrolling. As a member of the first graduating class of APA, Karian was able to accomplish several acting performances with starring roles in “As you like It” (Shakespeare) and “Maids” (Jean Genet). “Maids” would serve as her final exam leading her to graduate in 2014 with a B.F.A. in Performing Arts specializing in Acting. Soon after her graduation she began teaching drama classes at local schools and joined the Proscenium Theatre Company where she has performed in various productions. Most recently she portrayed Rosa in the award-winning “Moon On A Rainbow Shawl” to rave reviews.

Karian continues to pursue her dance career with Elle InfiniTT where she is now a teacher and performing company member. She has shared the stage with notable local acts such as Olatunji, Mr Renzo, Machel Mantano and Omardath Maharaj (Chutney Soca) as well as performed in several corporate performances, commercials and videos. Karian is also currently fulfilling a lifelong dream of being a performing member of 3Canal's company, with whom she performs every Carnival season.

Most recently, Karian has obtained her MA in Carnival Studies through the University of Trinidad and Tobago. Her interest in and love for all things indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago inspires her to raise a future generation with a pride and passion for their country through the Arts.  When asked if she will ever choose between her loves of dancing and acting, Karian simply responds: “For me the two are not mutually exclusive. They feed each other and they fashion my body and mind in different yet complimentary ways.”
