Zakiya-Tuere Savary has been training at the Caribbean School of Dance since the age of three and at present is continuing her training mainly in Ballet, Modern and Jazz. Thus far she has successfully completed examinations for all three levels of ISTD Jazz, Grade 5 to Advanced 1 of ISTD Modern and Pre primary to Intermediate of RAD Ballet.
In 2007, she was awarded a scholarship to attend a summer intensive at Ballet Hispanico in New York and in 2016 she will be attending a similar intensive at the Joffrey Ballet School, also in New York.
From 2013 to present she has been involved with a local theatre production company, JCS Entertainment and has performed in their musicals- namely Mahalia: A Gospel Musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, Encore: Live from Broadway and The King and I. She is also a member of AbeoJacksonProductions Dance Core launched in 2014, a small dance ensemble attached to the production house.
She is a Metamorphosis Dance Company alumni and in 2015 became a member of Continuum Dance Project and Wicked Dance Group in 2014. This involvement has allowed Zakiya-Tuere to work with some of the most phenomenal local and international choreographers.
In 2015, Zakiya-Tuere Savary joined the Elle NYTT team teaching kids ballet and looks forward to continuing to hone her craft so as to improve imparting her knowledge gained.
